Rocket Rye

So with friday off work it was time to get a brew on, been planning on brewing a IPA with Rye in for a while now mainly after tasting Sierra nevada’s – Ruthless Rye.

The malt bill was mainly pale malt with a 1kg of rye malt thrown in, wasn’t sure how much to use first time round and have heard things about stuck mashes when using to much rye, i’ll see how this comes out then modify next time round. Also chucked in 100g of Carapils as I had it left over and thought it wouldn’t hurt.

The brew all went to plan, had a taste of the first runnings and could pick up a slightly peppery taste which hopefully was the rye, also the smell of the first wort bravo hops was epic! Lost slightly more wort to the hops than I was hoping but hit my OG right on, all in all a good brew day.
